The Illinois River Biological Station and it's staff and data support multi-million dollar resource decisions made by the USACE, The Nature Conservancy and the Illinois Department of Natural Resources.  Information and data is collected through the monitoring of fish populations and water quality in the Illinois River, Mississippi River and the Emiquon Preserve through various gears including nets and electrofishing.  IRBS is also a research partner with the Illinois Department of Natural Resources on specialized research projects focused on the invasive species, including Asian carp population and it's affects on fish populations and zooplankton.
