Illinois Wilds Institute
Come and join Illinois Natural History Survey biologists for a 3-day exploration of the landscapes and organisms of Illinois—its animals, plants, and habitats.
The courses are field experiences led by the instructors. We also have evening presentations geared toward interpreting the landscapes of the areas we visit. Course participants will discover a sampling of the diverse biological and geological wonders that make up Illinois.
Participants will receive a notebook on the area and other materials. All meals are provided. Snacks and drinksare alsoincluded on the field trips. Participants should come prepared to spend most of their time in the field hiking and exploring. The maximum walking distance during individual field trips will be approximately 1-2 miles, but we will be outdoors for most of the time (rain or shine). We will provide van transportation for many of the participants, but some carpooling will be necessary.
Cost: Tuition for the courses is typically about $225.00 and includes all course materials, the meals described above, and snacks. Lodging arrangements are the registrants responsibility and will not be made by IWIN staff.

If spouses register, there is no price break for the second person. If a parent and child (10-18 years old) enroll, the course fee is half price for the child. However, if the child pays half price, only one set of materials( e.g. field guides, handouts, collecting supplies, etc.) will be provided. Only one child is allowed per parent at the reduced price. If materials are desired for the child, full price must be paid. Children under 18 must be accompanied by a parent.
