What is natural history?

Natural History can be broadly defined to include all natural phenomena, but the definition that most appropriately represents the work of the Illinois Natural History Survey is "The study of living organisms in their natural habitats" (from A Dictionary of Biology. Oxford University Press, 2004. Oxford Reference Online. Oxford University Press).
